Filipino Barbecue Marinade

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 can soda (Sprite OR 7-Up)
  • 4 TBSP. brown sugar
  • 6 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Directions

  1. Mix all ingredients in bowl and use as marinade.
  2. Marinate your meat for at least 4 hours or overnight for full flavors.
  3. For the leftover marinade, after you take out the meat, simmer in a pan for few minutes to reduce and use it as basting while you grill.

Play With Your Food!

  • Use Tamari soy sauce instead of regular soy sauce. It has a much richer flavor.
  • Add 2 Tbsp. of Sriracha chili sauce. Adds some tasty heat, but not overly hot.
