The Ogre’s Chili
Ingredients
- 1-1 ½ LBS. Ground Beef
- Olive Oil
- 1 medium Yellow Onion, chopped
- 4 Garlic Cloves, chopped
- 1 28 oz. can Crushed or Diced Tomato
- 1 16 oz. can Red Kidney Beans
- 1 16 oz. can Black Beans
- 1 or 2 Jalapeño or Serrano peppers, finely chopped
- 1 tsp. Ground Cumin
- 1 tsp. Smoked Paprika
- 3 Tbsp. Chili Powder
- ½ tsp. Salt
- ½ tsp. Black Pepper
- 2 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
- 2 Tbsp. Hot Sauce (your choice)
Directions
- In a Dutch Oven, brown the ground beef, remove, and drain fat.
- Add 2 Tbsp. Olive Oil over medium heat.
- Add the onion and sauté for 3 minutes, add garlic and peppers and sauté for 2 additional minutes.
- Add all the remaining ingredients and stir to combine.
- Cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Notes
- Serve in a bowl.
- Add peppers of your choice in the chili or as a topping.
- Sour Cream for topping.
- Cheddar or Pepper Jack Cheese for topping.
- Corn chips for scoopin or nachos!
- Serve with rice and/or flour tortillas.
