The Ogre’s Chili

Ingredients

  • 1-1 ½ LBS. Ground Beef
  • Olive Oil
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion, chopped
  • 4 Garlic Cloves, chopped
  • 1 28 oz. can Crushed or Diced Tomato
  • 1 16 oz. can Red Kidney Beans
  • 1 16 oz. can Black Beans
  • 1 or 2 Jalapeño or Serrano peppers, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp. Ground Cumin
  • 1 tsp. Smoked Paprika
  • 3 Tbsp. Chili Powder
  • ½ tsp. Salt
  • ½ tsp. Black Pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Hot Sauce (your choice)

Directions

  1. In a Dutch Oven, brown the ground beef, remove, and drain fat.
  2. Add 2 Tbsp. Olive Oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the onion and sauté for 3 minutes, add garlic and peppers and sauté for 2 additional minutes.
  4. Add all the remaining ingredients and stir to combine.
  5. Cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

Notes

  • Serve in a bowl.
  • Add peppers of your choice in the chili or as a topping.
  • Sour Cream for topping.
  • Cheddar or Pepper Jack Cheese for topping.
  • Corn chips for scoopin or nachos!
  • Serve with rice and/or flour tortillas.
