Lasagna

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2-24 oz. cans (6 cups) marinara or tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 16 oz. (450 g) ricotta cheese
  • 8 oz. (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 12 lasagna noodles, cooked
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Make the Meat Sauce: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, sausage, and onion over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in marinara sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
  3. Simmer on low for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Prepare the Cheese Mixture: In a medium bowl, mix ricotta, cream cheese, sour cream, egg, Parmesan, and parsley until smooth and creamy.
  5. Assemble the Lasagna: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Add a layer of noodles, spread the cheese mixture, spoon over meat sauce, and sprinkle mozzarella. Repeat layers, finishing with noodles, meat sauce, and mozzarella.
  7. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake another 20–25 minutes, until golden and bubbling. Let rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing and serving.
