Beef Stroganoff
INGREDIENTS
- 1½ lb. sirloin steak sliced into 1½ inch pieces
- 1 cup onion, finely chopped
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- ½ tsp. salt
- ½ tsp. pepper
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 2 cups half & half
- 3 oz. softened cream cheese
- 3 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 2 cups sliced white mushroom’s
- ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tsp. dried marjoram
- cooked egg noodles
DIRECTIONS
- In a large skillet melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add and sauté the onions until they begin to soften and become clear
- Add the beef slices, salt and pepper and cook until browned
- Stir in the flour and stir to coat the steak, then add the half & half. cream cheese and tomato paste, reduce heat and simmer for 7-9 minutes until the sauce thickens
- Add the mushrooms and parsley and continue to cook another 3-4 minutes until the mushrooms are tender
- Serve over cooked egg noodles
NOTES
- The original recipe has pearl onions instead of chopped yellow onion. It’s nice but when cooking for little ogre’s they tend to be a little odd. So, if you want to make this recipe with the pearl onions, eliminate the chopped onions in the beginning and add the pearl onions with the sliced mushrooms at the end of cooking. Thaw the frozen pearl onions before cooking.
