Sponge Cake
INGREDIENTS
- 4 Eggs
- 2 cups Sugar
- 2 cups Flour
- 2 tsp. Baking Powder
- 1 cup Boiling Milk
- 2 tbsp. Butter
- 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
DIRECTIONS
- Line the bottom of a round cake pan with parchment paper.
- Sift the flour and baking powder and set aside.
- Beat eggs until fluffy then gradually add the sugar.
- Add the flour and baking powder slowly and combine.
- Boil milk and butter and gradually add to the mixture.
- Add the vanilla. Beat slowly until smooth.
- In the round cake pan bake at 350°F for 1 hour until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and cool inverted for 1 hour before removing from the pan. Run a knife around the side.
NOTES
Serve plain, with ice cream, fruit, jams or your favorite fruit and chocolate sauces.
