Italian Meatballs
INGREDIENTS
- 1 lb. 80/20 ground beef
- ½ lb. ground pork
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup onion, finely chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ cup finely chopped bell pepper
- ¾ cup fresh parmesan cheese – grated
- ⅓ cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 1 ½ tsp. salt
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1 tsp. basil
- 1 Tbsp. Parsley
- Olive oil
DIRECTIONS
- Combine all ingredients except olive oil in a bowl without overworking
- Form 2-inch meatballs
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Place meatballs in the pan and brown them on all sides gently turning them
- Place in pot or Dutch oven with tomato sauce and simmer at LOW HEAT for at least 30 minutes, gently stir occasionally to cook evenly and avoid scorching the sauce.
- Alternate Cooking: place meatballs on a baking sheet or pan and bake at 350°F for 30 minutes
